The Disaster Funding

According to Oxfam’s latest report, the funds required to meet the climate-related disasters have risen to approx. 80% over the past 20 years.

Such a rise in the funds required is due to an increase in climate-related crises such as extreme heatwaves, wildfires, etc. It is, however, incredibly discouraging to know that the developed countries are meeting only 20% demand for the funds needed. Read more

Killer Tobacco

Cigarette butts are the most common contributor to single-use plastic pollution. Smokers across the globe stub approx 8,00,000 metric tons of cigarettes every year, a figure that would cover New York’s, Central Park.

Although the global cigarette industry focuses on various initiatives to paint itself green, the efforts largely remain futile as the environment and human health are degrading at an alarming rate. Read more

England’s Football Clubs and Climate Change

The sport called “football” is a significant contributor to global climate change, with an estimated global carbon footprint of equivalent to the size of “Tunisia”. However, the estimates are very miserly.

With climate change, roughly 92 of England’s league clubs will be flooded in the next three decades if efforts are not made to curb climate change. The English clubs must upgrade to sustainable practices and infrastructure to continue playing. Read more

California’s Summer

Climate Change is leading to droughts and dry-spells across the west for over 2 years now.

The city of California is no different and is under intense heat wave. To add to the vows of the city, snow has been below normal or was only 4% normal. If the pace of the water crisis and the heat-waves continues the city will not be able to survive the summer without major power-cuts. Read more
