Italy has issued a state of emergency with “The Po”– Italy’s longest river has run dry to what is described by the government as the “worst drought in 70 years“.

The satellite image shows that the river is at its record low, making the water seeped inland by the sea, thus destroying crops.

The Italian government is taking several initiatives to restore the water basins of the eastern Alps, which presently seems futile due to extremely dry winter and extremely hot summers. Read more
