Biodiversity extinction

More than 80,000 species of plants have been categorized as “going to extinct simply because humans don’t need them” have been identified in a study by a group of researchers led by John Kress, a botany curator emeritus at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of National History.

The research findings can be read in the journal Plants, People, Planet.

This is considered a massive biodiversity loss and is regarded as a “wake-up call” to protect our biodiversity to protect our ecosystem. Read more

Australia’s rain fury

Australia’s Sydney is enduring the rainiest start to any year. The city is witnessing such heavy rains that even a meagre 0.2mm of drizzle is considered rain.

The Plastic Threat!

Plastic consumption has been the primary source of global GHG emissions and is growing with each passing year. However, it is regrettable that being such a significant source of emissions, there isn’t any mechanism to measure the percentage of plastic pollution.

With the above fact in mind, the United Nations agreed to measure plastic consumption and its pollution levels, which 173 countries have agreed upon to save the overall environment. Read more

Crumbling rain forests

More than 75% of the Amazon rain forests that are untouched have lost their stability and will take longer than anticipated to recover from droughts, wildfires etc…

The scientists further concluded that the has been harsher near urban areas or near the areas that are getting drier with each passing year… read more.

Fossil fuels: the war!v

The present-day Ukraine Russian war has been the result of fossil fuels usage that has led to the climate crisis and extreme weather events.

According to Svitlana Krakovska, a leading climate scientist: “the war has been a silent emergent due to warm weather and harsh climate impacts, which are being used by the Russian agencies to supply products and in turn buy weapons from the money earned.” Read more
